A New Open-Source Tool for Detecting Plant secondary metabolite degrading Genes in Bacterial Genomes

We have released PhytoFinder, a free and open-source tool for identifying microbial genes involved in breaking down plant secondary compounds. Built around a curated database of predicted genes linked to catabolism of these plant compounds, PhytoFinder scans bacterial genomes and reports gene hits by category and enzyme function. Available now on GitHub, PhytoFinder gives biologists a fast, standardized way to probe genomes for plant-compound-degrading capacity, supporting research into plant-microbe interactions and soil ecology.
